1. Who We Are
Pura Shuttle LLC ("Pura Shuttle," "we," "our," or "us") is a ground transportation booking platform operating at purashuttle.com. We connect tourists traveling in Costa Rica with professional private shuttle services. Our company is incorporated in Wyoming, USA, and operates services within Costa Rica.

2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
When you make a booking, we collect:
- Full name — to identify you to your driver and for booking records
- Email address — to send booking confirmations and reminders
- Phone number — to send SMS reminders and WhatsApp communications about your trip
- Flight number — to monitor your arrival and adjust pickup timing if your flight is delayed
- Pickup and drop-off addresses — to route your transfer correctly
- Number of passengers — to assign the right vehicle size
- Payment information — processed directly by Stripe; we do not store your card details
Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit purashuttle.com, we may collect:
- Browser type and device information
- Pages visited and time spent on those pages
- IP address and general location (country/region)
- Referring website
We collect this through standard analytics tools (Google Analytics) and cookies. See Section 9 for our cookie practices.
Information from Third Parties
- Stripe provides us with payment confirmation and a transaction reference. We never receive or store your full card number.
- Flight tracking services (Aviation Edge or AeroDataBox) provide us with real-time flight status for the flight number you provide at booking.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process and confirm your booking — including generating a unique booking reference (PS-XXXXXX format)
- Send booking confirmations — by email immediately after payment
- Send trip reminders — by email and/or SMS at 72 hours, 24 hours, and 2 hours before your trip
- Share driver details — we send your driver's name, vehicle plate, and contact information approximately 24 hours before your trip
- Monitor your flight — if you provide a flight number, we track it and notify you and your driver of any delays, at no extra charge
- Facilitate communication — all messages between you and your driver route through our WhatsApp concierge number; we translate messages as needed
- Process cancellations and refunds — in accordance with our cancellation policy
- Improve our platform — using aggregated, non-identifiable analytics data
- Send marketing communications — only if you have separately opted in; you may opt out at any time
4. SMS and WhatsApp Communications
SMS Text Messages
By providing your phone number and completing a booking, you consent to receive automated SMS text messages from Pura Shuttle regarding your booking. These messages include:
- Booking confirmation
- Trip reminders (72 hours, 24 hours, and 2 hours before your scheduled pickup)
- Driver assignment notifications
- Flight delay alerts (if a flight number was provided)
Message frequency: Typically 3–5 messages per booking. Frequency may vary depending on your trip timeline and any flight changes.
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
To opt out of SMS messages, reply STOP to any message you receive from us. You will receive one confirmation message and no further SMS messages. Note that opting out of SMS does not cancel your booking.

Important: Your mobile phone number and SMS opt-in are not shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
WhatsApp Messages
Separately from SMS, our WhatsApp concierge number is used to:
- Send booking confirmations and driver details via WhatsApp
- Relay messages between you and your driver (translated as needed)
- Respond to questions about your trip
WhatsApp communications are governed by Meta's Privacy Policy in addition to this document. You may contact us at support@purashuttle.com to request changes to your WhatsApp communication preferences.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only as follows:
With Your Transport Provider
Your first name and passenger count are shared with the local transport company assigned to your booking. Your email address and full phone number are not shared with transport providers — all driver-customer communication routes through our concierge system.
With Your Driver
Approximately 24 hours before your trip, your driver receives your first name, passenger count, flight number, pickup time, and pickup location. Your email and personal phone number are not shared directly with the driver.

These providers are contractually prohibited from using your information for any purpose other than providing services to us.
When Required by Law
We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
Business Transfers
If Pura Shuttle is acquired, merged, or sells substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you by email if this occurs.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as needed to:
- Fulfill your booking and provide post-trip support
- Comply with legal obligations (tax records, financial records)
- Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements
Booking records are retained for a minimum of 5 years for accounting and tax compliance purposes, in accordance with Costa Rican law. Communication logs are retained for 12 months. You may request deletion of non-essential data at any time — see Section 8.
7. Data Security
We take the security of your information seriously. Our platform uses:
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
- Industry-standard database security with access controls
- Payment processing entirely through Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant — your card details never touch our servers
- Signed, expiring tokens for sensitive action links (such as booking acknowledgement)
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us immediately at support@purashuttle.com.
8. Your Rights and Choices
All Users
- Opt out of SMS: Reply STOP to any text message
- Opt out of marketing email: Click "Unsubscribe" in any marketing email, or contact us
- Access your booking information: Email support@purashuttle.com with your booking reference
- Request correction: Contact us to correct inaccurate information
California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Request deletion of personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Opt out of the sale of personal information — we do not sell personal information
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

European / EEA Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under GDPR:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your personal data where we have no legal basis to retain it
- Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data
- Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time
Our legal bases for processing your data are: contract performance (processing bookings), legitimate interests (platform security, analytics), and consent (marketing communications, SMS).

Costa Rica Residents (Ley 8968)
In accordance with Costa Rica's Law on Protection of Persons Regarding the Treatment of Their Personal Data (Ley 8968), you have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of personal data we hold about you. Contact us at support@purashuttle.com.
9. Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to:
- Keep the booking flow functioning correctly (session cookies — required)
- Understand how visitors use the site (analytics cookies — optional)
- Remember your preferences (functional cookies — optional)
You can control cookie settings in your browser. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to book a transfer.
10. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us at support@purashuttle.com and we will delete it promptly.
11. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites (such as hotel partners, Costa Rica tourism resources, or review platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide additional notice (such as an email to active customers). Continued use of our services after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
